Make It Possible to Become a Certified Hand Therapist
===
[00:00:00] If you want to study to become a certified hand therapist, one of the things that people do is they start asking their friends and their families and their co workers. This half, this was a discussion that I had with some of my students that I shared some insight with them and I want you to take a listen.
It's about holding space for you to talk it through. But here's, here's what happens, um, in terms of holding space for someone.
If you go and you talk to your friends and family, right? They love you, they're not going to be honest. They care about you too much. Of course you can do it. And, you know, all that good stuff, right? Now, every once in a while you meet people and they could be your friends. They don't mean anything by it.
But, there are little verbiage and ways in which [00:01:00] it's very easy to kind of like, Plant of a seed of doubt. All right, and I promise you that's the last thing you need right now Right, you've been studying, you know your shit and sometimes it's just in talking about That or talking about what you've been doing or talking about what's going on in your head in a very you know If you can trust me in a very safe Judgment free zone.
It's really all it is. All right I have You know, really great conversations every single time I do these, um, private calls. And I think sometimes it's just that little tidbit, that little snap that you need, right? And I try to share them, but it hits different people in different phases, right? Um, when you need it.
And I'll share with you, um, the question, the, the topic I was, [00:02:00] I was talking to someone about. And really it's about,
really it's about, you set the goal to study, you set the goal to become a CHT, and it's to pass, right? Like, nobody wants a fucking fail, let's be honest. We all want to pass. Here's the thing with passing, though, is that you want to pass, that's your goal, and then you have to let it go. Let it go. Let go of the need to pass.
And then work on, from the time you have now until the You date of your test, what needs to happen in order to work towards it. So it's not that that's the end goal. You have no control over that you have no control over that in the sense that you don't have control over the questions that they give you.
You don't have control over if it's loud in there that day or not you don't have control over if it's glitchy [00:03:00] you know or whatever you don't have control over if it's You know, there was a traffic jam or someone pissed you off that morning. You don't have control over that. You only have control over yourself and what you do.
So between now and the day of your test, just get really, really specific. Right? Get really specific on what needs to still happen. What haven't you gone over? Where are your weak spot? What is it that you need to work on? If it's doubt, then fucking work on the doubt part, right? Um, if you, you know, if you've failed in the past, We've already done the score audit.
We've, we already know the focus framework. Where are you not putting your focus? Right? Part of it, it's like letting go of some of that ego that you already know stuff. You already, you've been knowing this, you, you do this and you get great results. Has absolutely nothing to do with it. So between now and the day of your test, you have so many days.
What do your days look like? [00:04:00] Because if you say you want that goal, what do your days from now until then look like? I've had You know, several years ago, I had, you know, I had, um, someone in the program and she was struggling with a studying part and, um, and it was so much of it was due to experience, right?
The lack of experience, but you can bridge that gap if you study a certain way, but you know, right before her exam, She had guests come over. I was like, are you fucking kidding me right now? She'd been in the program. She bridge over she got private lessons and right before the exam for two weeks She has guests over like I cannot tell you that's just one aspect of Sabotaging so then if you do [00:05:00] fail, you can blame it on the fact that that should happen, right?
Find out where your self sabotages are Find them out better now than later, right? Look at what are you doing to self sabotage yourself? Is it the doubt that's coming in that's saying, you know, whatever words your words inside your head really matter Right. Are you all of a sudden not making time for studying after all these months of studying?
Are things coming up? Are you letting them get in the way? Things are coming up, you know, things are always coming up. Can someone else take care of it for a moment? You only have so many weeks. After all this time someone, someone else can't fucking take care of it for you. Whether it be at work or whether it be at home.
Where are you self sabotaging yourself? So that's at some point you can justify why you failed, right? I'm being really kind of [00:06:00] harsh here Um, but it's really the intention behind it. It's good, right? It's so that because I don't know I'm not next to you, right? I'm not next to you, but You're you're there You're there in your own head.
So where are you sabotaging the next so many weeks? Who are you talking to that you need to stop talking to? Right? Because sometimes these friends All right, these friends, they don't mean bad by it, but sometimes they're the ones, right? Who is it? Like, sometimes it's your family member. Sometimes it's your spouse, right?
Don't talk to them about the exam if that's what you need to say. Stop talking about, right? Yeah, babe. It's just two more weeks man. Let me pass and like that's it right [00:07:00] doesn't matter what the outcome is if you love me like this where it's at, you know, so if we're married we have a lifetime together.
What's two weeks dude? That's what I told my husband like years ago. That day really spent, you know, that's how, that's how we're married so long. We don't really see each other. But yeah, it's, it really is so much, so much of that. So, you know, really take a dive into some of that and, and let go of, let go of the outcome that you're searching for and do the work.
And believe you me, we might be talking about different topics. I'm doing the same thing. same exact thing you're doing. I set my goal, I put it out there in the universe and, and I have a hard time. I'm not saying I don't have a hard time. I have a hard time. That's why I can speak on it so, so passionately.
Let go of the outcome and do the work. I am getting, you know, I have to [00:08:00] get really aggressive right now and I have to do the work, right? Cause I want what I want. Just like you want what you want. Alright, if you want to become a CHT, you have the years, you have the hours. The last thing you need to do is study to pass.
That's the biggest thing that I do, and this is one of the biggest topics that I talk about with one of my programs, uh, the exam prep program. Now the exam prep program is going to be open for enrollment October 26th to November 9th, and I'm holding a free live masterclass to help you think about what you need to do to plan and to take it and pass this time around, right?
Stop putting it off. Stop procrastinating. Stop thinking you can, you can't do it. Of course you can do it. So sign up for my free masterclass.
